Sudden Baby Death Syndrome (SIDS) remains the leading cause of sudden baby deaths among infants aged 1 month to 1 year all over the world. SIDS is the sudden death of an otherwise healthy infant that can't be attributed to any other cause. These babies may have brain abnormalities that prevent them from gasping and waking when they don't get enough oxygen.
After conducting a study on nearly 500 babies, the researchers established that the use of fan to circulate air can lower the risk of sudden baby deaths. Researchers accounted that the fan use was associated with 72 percent lower risk of SIDS. Experts recommended that babies should be placed on their backs to sleep for preventing SIDS which is still a mysterious cause of death. Other advices include removing toys and extra pillows from the cribs, the use of firm mattress, and keeping baby from getting too warm.
