James Doherty, a 13 year old, collapsed after suffering a massive heart attack while playing tennis near his North London home. A fitness trainer and a nearby spectator leapt to the boy's assistance -- administring CPR.
To the joy and astonishment of everyone, James actually revived after his heart had stopped for a full fifteen minutes making him one of the youngest people on record to have survived a cardiac arrest. Stunned doctors pronounced the recovery a "near miracle" stating that it was highly unlikely for anyone to survive a heart stoppage of more than ten minutes.
Sarah Doherty, the boy's mother, was naturally exultant and immensely relieved: ''The doctor who treated him said he was unique and it was extraordinarily miraculous that he survived."
James is expected to make a full recovery.
