Thousands of bloggers around the world are participating today in Blog Action Day 2008. The subject this year is Poverty.
As part of the Blog Action Day efforts, allvoices will be marking stories relating to poverty with both the tag "poverty" and with the image and link for Blog Action Day. We hope you will join us in shedding light on the causes, effects, and impacts of poverty.
There is a saying that "the poor will always be with us". While that may be true, there are ways in which poverty impacts the children of the world that perpetuate it. Extreme poverty makes it harder for a child to concentrate in school - if they even get to go to school. If there isn't money to put food on the table and a roof over your head, then there isn't money to pay for health care either. This means children who grow up in poverty have a much greater chance of never seeing a doctor.
The stresses of poverty are well known. From the extreme poverty of countries at war to the poverty of spirit caused by perpetual poverty in the US, stress from poverty impacts everything we do. If we could find a way to reduce it, we would all be better off.
What is your suggestion for reducing poverty and its impact? Write it up and share with the world.
If you want to participate in Blog Action Day, be sure to go to the site and register your efforts. You can also help by tagging poverty related items with the tags "poverty" and "blog action day".
