At least 30 people were killed and more than 250 injured Wednesday when an explosives-ridden car exploded outside a police building in Pakistani city of Lahore, government officials said.
The attack also involved unknown gunmen who fired shots at and around the targeted police office, known as Rescue 15, just before the car detonated. The assailants continued to fire, and hurled grenades at the building, for 10 to 15 minutes after the blast. .
The attacked occurred on Lahore busiest thoroughfare, Mall Road, where in addition to the targeted building there is a court building, a police headquarters building, an office of country's main intelligence agencyand some other government facilities. Rescue 15 houses the police rapid response team, which is dispatched during emergencies.
