Extra Strength Tylenol Soon to Require Rx?

Acetaminophen is under the FDA's microscope. Due to the effects on the liver and other issues the regulation of this overwhelmingly popular drug may become much tighter. Tylenol is #1 recommended by doctors, over asprin and ibuprofen. That is because for people on other medications, such as blood pressure or cholesterol medicines or anticonvulsants, and for pregnant women, acetaminophen has always been considered the safest option. There is discussion of the maximum daily dosage of acetaminophen to be 1000 mg. That is two Extra Strength Tylenol, a very popular product. Right now the maximum dosage of E.S. Tylenol is considered 4000 mg a day. Under the new FDA regulations, E.S. Tylenol would require a prescription. Acetaminophen medicines that already require a prescription, including Vicodin, may be taken off the market completely.

So what happens now? What happens to the people who are still in pain when they've had their two pills for the day? What happens to the millions with heart disease and epilepsy who can not turn to asprin or ibuprofen when they have back pain or migraines? That's a lot of people in very real pain, which will affect work, which will affect our country. If you're going to take away America's pain medicine, FDA, you need to give us something else.
