The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (Swat chapter) has renewed the demand for the withdrawal of troops from the scenic valley, saying the presence of the Army in the district was creating problems.
Talking to the media at the Swat Press Club by telephone on Thursday, TTP spokesman Muslim Khan said as long as the military was present in the valley, establishing durable peace in the area would be difficult.
The spokesman said the people in the country generally and in the NWFP particularly required “cooperation and not military operation”. He said the NWFP government was sincere in talks with the Taliban but lacked the authority to take decisions independently.
