"Transient global amnesia” or TGA is an attack in which a person suffers sudden loss of memory. Its cause is by pressure in blood vessels in the brain , and can be triggered by strenuous activities, bowel movements, or – commonly – sex.

Alice, a 59-year-old woman,had the worrying experience after she and her husband Scott had sex last August. Alice suddenly & temporarily, lost all memory of the last several years and the ability to form new memories.

After sex, Scott (Alice's husband) turned on the television, on which the Beijing Olympics were being telecasted, and Alice asked Scott : "Is there an Olympics?"

Scott told a news channel: "I saw that something was wrong, so I asked her, 'OK what day is it?'"

When she couldn’t answer, he asked her the name the current President, to which she replied: "Bill Clinton." Scott called an ambulance and she was taken to hospiatl, where it was initially thought she may have had a stroke.

However, neurologists were soon able to diagnose Transient global amnesia, a relatively common experience in the over-50s.

Dr Louis Caplan, professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School, said: "[Sex] is actually a well-known precipitator.

"One of the things people have done to look at transient global amnesia is to look at frequency of various precipitants and sex always comes out as one of the most common."

People with a history of migraines and severe headaches are more prone to this disease.

Although her memory has otherwise returned fully, Alice remains unable to remember the act of intercourse that triggered her attack. However, it is likely that she enjoyed herself.

Dr Caplan said: "It usually is after climax that [TGA] develops."

Why teams in red win more

According to a study in Germany,the teams who wear red win more than those that are dressed in any other colour.Researchers have found that those teams who wear red tops, jackets or clothing score 10% cent more in any competition than if they were in another colour.

Experts believe that red could make individuals and teams feel more confident as well as being perceived by others as more aggressive and dominant.The findings could explain why Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal, have been so successful,. On the other hand, the results could suggest that the success of those teams has given those that wear the red colour more confidence.

United and Liverpool have won a record 18 league titles, while Arsenal have had an uninterrupted run in the top flight for longer than any other team.

England's victorious World Cup team in 1966, led by Bobby Moore wore red, instead of their usual white, and have not won a World Cup or European Championship since.

The study, by German sports psychologists at the University of Munster, was reported in New Scientistmagazine. They showed video clips of taekwondo bouts to 42 experienced referees. One combatant wore blue, the other red.

They then showed them the same clips but digitally manipulated the clothing to swap the colours. The fighters wearing red were given an average of 13 per cent more points than when they were blue.

"If one competitor is strong and the other weak, it won't change the outcome of the fight," said Norbert Hagemann, who led the study. "But the closer the levels, the easier it is for the colour to tip the scale."

In 2004 scientists at Durham University also looked at how colour influenced sporting competitiveness. They analysed Olympic combat sports such as boxing, taekwondo, Graeco-Roman wrestling and freestyle wrestling and found that nearly 55 per cent of bouts were won by the competitor in red.

"There is now good experimental evidence that red stimuli are perceived as dominant and that they cause negative effects on performance in those viewing them," said Robert Burton, one of the researchers. "It is plausible that wearing red also makes individuals feel more confident, although this hasn't yet been tested."

A married man with a series of lovers went to a motel to meet one and agreed to be tied up before four women arrived and glued his penis to his stomach to punish him for cheating, court documents allege.

Wendy Sewell who is 43 years old, Therese Ziemann who is 48 years old, Michelle Belliveau 43 years old & Tracy Hood-Davis are charged with being party to false imprisonment. Ziemann also is charged with sexual assault. The women face 6 years in prison

According to the US court papers filed in Wisconsin, the women's revenge plot unfolded last Thursday at the Lakeview Motel southwest of Green Bay in the tiny village of Stockbridge near the scenic shores of Lake Winnebago.

They alleged, the man agreed to be bound with "sheer sheets" and blindfolded with a pillowcase for a "rub down" by Ziemann.

Instead, she cut off his underwear with a scissors and summoned the others to the room with a text message.

Ziemann struck the man in the face, and used glue to attach his penis to his stomach when the other women arrived, according to the complaints.

The man told investigators he also was threatened with a gun. Ziemann told investigators she didn't have a gun but may have told the victim: "Do you know how much I want to shoot you?"

He started screaming and the women ran away, worried that he could get loose and hurt them but allegedly took his wallet, vehicle and mobile phone.

Ziemann told investigators she met the man online through Craigslist, fell in love and paid for his use of a room at the motel for the past two months. She said she gave him about $3,000 (£1,770). Then last Wednesday, she learned from the man's wife that he was married and had other girlfriends "using them for money". She expected the money to be repaid, according to the documents.

During Thursday's alleged confrontation with the man, Ziemann told investigators Sewell asked him: "Which one do you love more?"

One of the women made a derisive remark about him being scared.

The man got free from the bed by chewing through one of his bindings, went outside and borrowed a telephone from the motel owner to call police.

Ms Sewell later told reporters: "I am disturbed. I am upset. I am having a hard time handling life; an emotional wreck."

The women were given bail. Investigators say all the women apart from Belliveau were romantically involved with the man.

The extent of the injuries to the victim remains unclear.

Bicycle that folds inside its own wheels

This bicycle is designed in such a way that it can be folded.

It can then be effectively "taken for a walk" with the owner dragging it by one handlebar in a way that makes it easy to use on buses and the Tube.

The Contortionist has been shortlisted for the James Dyson Award for international designs.

Mr Hargreaves, 24, said: "Current folding bikes on the market seemed to be just too much of a compromise or just didn't fold that small for day-to-day use.

"The brief I set myself was to create a folding bike where all the parts fit in between the circumference of its 26-inch wheels when it is folded up. Once folded the bike cannot fold back on itself while riding. The wheels rotate when folded up so the folded package can be wheeled along rather having to be carried."

Mr Hargreaves told the London Evening Standard he hoped the bike could go on sale next year for around £400.

He went on: "I was trying to find a fold-up bike and I just couldn't find anything I liked, or that was practical.

"I wanted something that could take a bit of punishment and that you could have fun with, like jumping off kerbs and even going away at weekends.

"In am in discussion with several potential partners now. I'm really at the stage where the design is finished, but I need some financial backing to get things rolling."

Later, Mr Hargreaves explained that the bike worked on hydraulics at present but that a future model would feature a conventional pedal-to-wheel chain.

A pet cat has caught the same bus regularly for four years.

Casper, is a 12 years old cat, who boards the No-3 service at 10:55am from outside his home in Plymouth, Devon, & travels the entire 11 mile route before returning home about an hour later.

On the route, this cat passes a historic dockyard and a naval base, a city centre, several suburbs and the city's red light district.

The cat has been making the journey for so long that all First Bus drivers have now been told to look out for him to ensure the cat gets off at the right stop but i think the cat used to get off at its stop by its own.

Susan Finden who is 65, a care worker who is Casper's owner, said: "Casper has always disappeared for hours at a time but I never understood where he was going.

"I called him Casper because he had a habit of vanishing like a ghost. But then some of the drivers told me he had been catching the bus.

"I couldn't believe it at first, but it explains a lot. He loves people and we have a bus stop right outside our house so that must be how he got started - just following everyone on.

"I used to catch the odd bus too so maybe he saw me and got curious what I was doing.

"Casper is quite quick for his age so he just hops on to the bus before the doors get closes. He catches the buss @ 10:55am service and likes to sit on the back seat."

Rob Stonehouse is one of the drivers on the route, he said: "He usually just curls up at the back of the bus. Sometimes he nips between people's legs but he never causes any trouble."

Casper has travelled an estimated 20,000 miles but Mrs Finden says because he is getting old the drivers often have to shuffle him off at the right stop.

The "flat rate sex" promotions, which are based on all-you-can-eat restaurants, have been introduced by brothel owners in a bid to revive trade that has fallen around 30% in the economic downturn.

Other imaginative offers include rebates for pensioners and people on benefits, 10% discounts for men who arrive by bicycle or public transport, and free shoe polishing for customers who stay overnight.

But it's the flat rate deals which are priced as low as €70 (£60) that have attracted particular controversy in a country where prostitution is legal and generally well tolerated.

The promotion is popular which brothel owners who have to pay their sex workers a fixed daily wage whether they have any clients or not.

But conservative politicians have expressed disgust at the innovation and have ordered a wave of police raids on sex clubs in an effort to bring it to an end.

“This is an outrageous violation of human dignity,” Heribert Rech, the Baden-Württemberg interior minister, told THE TIMES MAGAZINE.

“So-called flat-rate sex is an immoral development which cannot be tolerated in the society.”

Because the promotion is not forbidden by law, officers have focused their raids on immigration and hygiene offences at brothels where it has been introduced.

Michael Jackson's hair is to be turned into diamonds, in the latest morbid attempt to cash in on the Michael's death.

An American firm which specialises in converting human remains into precious rocks claims to have purchased a lock of Michael's hair.

LifeGem says it obtained the strands from the producer of the infamous 1984 Pepsi advert in which Michael Jackson's hair caught fire.

Now the firm is offering Jackson's fans the chance to buy diamonds created from their musical hero's & the Kinbg Of Pop's DNA.

They say “We are currently evaluating Jackson's hair sample to determine how many diamonds can be created. This will be a limited collection and we anticipate great interest,” said Dean VandenBiesen, the founder of LifeGem, which is based in Chicago.

The company claims that they have carried out the same process on hair belonging to the composer Ludwig van Beethoven.

Its technique relies on subjecting the carbon found in biological matter to intense pressures, recreating the extremes of temperature and stress below the earth's surface that transforms rock into diamond crystals.

LifeGem generally charges between £2,500 and £15,000 to bereaved relatives who want a permanent memento of their loved ones, but Jackson diamonds would command a far higher price.

The King of Pop's sudden death at the age of 50 last month has sparked a surge of interest in Jackson memorabilia, with the single white glove he wore on his 1984 Victory Tour expected to sell for more than £100,000 when it goes under the hammer later this year.

Footage of the Pepsi advert accident – which is said to have sparked Jackson's addiction to pain killers – emerged days after Jackson's death. He suffered third degree burns to his face and scalp.

The pin-up actress said: “I think I'm pretty sexy in it. You'd better put on your sexy shoes for this movie.”

She added that the film, released in October, carries a hint of lesbianism. "There's a girl-on-girl kiss,” she said. “And beyond that, before every kill there is a seduction that occurs."

She said she loved the film because “it's so unapologetic and inappropriate” and that the lack of special-effects made it harder work than her previous role in Transformers.

Father kept daughter as sex slave for 24 years

A South African man, who has been dubbed another Josef Fritzl, kept his own teenage daughter as a sex slave after she visited him for the first time, it is alleged.

The 53-year-old, known only as 'Heinz', is accused of raping the 18-year-old, who has been called 'Sandra' up to three times a day over a period of two months.

The teenager, who is from Germany, had never previously met her father and tracked him down on the internet, before flying to South Africa to meet him.Sandra's shocked mother said she had really been looking forward to meeting her dad.

Heinz is alleged to have kept the young woman locked in his Cape Town home, assaulted and intimidated her, as well as forcing her to have sex with him.

'Sandra' is said to have told a counsellor: "We were lying on his bed watching DVD's.

"First he held me in his arms and stroked my back but then he started touching my body all over, and told me to take my clothes off."

When she refused to take off her clothes, he allegedly fetched a knife, threatened her with it and cut them from her body.

The teenager is said to have claimed she was then forced to spend every night with her father in his bed where he raped her up to three times a night.

Heinz has been dubbed the South African Fritzl after the Austrian father who kept his daughter imprisoned in a cellar for 24 years and had seven children by her.

Sandra, who was too frightened to escape, was only rescued after Heinz took her to visit friends, and she managed to hand over a letter claiming she was being abused.

Heinz is now facing charges of incest, rape and assault with intent of GBH.

The teenager is in a place of safety with her brother, who flew in from Germany to be with her.

Heinz, who is currently on bail, is due to appear in court on August 7.

Women with brains have more fun in bed than the average bimbo, new research suggests.

A study of more than 2,000 female twins showed that those with greater emotional intelligence had larger numbers of orgasms.

Emotional intelligence (EI) is the ability to monitor and manage feelings and emotions in oneself and others.

The findings suggest that low EI is a risk factor for female orgasmic disorder, one of the most common sexual problems suffered by women.

Up to 30 per cent of women find it difficult or impossible to reach a climax during sexual intercourse.

Professor Tim Spector, director of the Twin Research Department at King's College London and co-author of the study, said: "These findings show that emotional intelligence is an advantage in many aspects of your life including the bedroom. This study will help enormously in the development of behavioural and cognitive therapies to improve women's sexual lives."

A total of 2,035 female volunteers from the TwinsUK registry were recruited for the study, ranging in age from 18 to 83.

The registry consists of adult twins who have agreed to take part in studies to investigate the causes of common disorders. Using twins makes it possible to disentangle genetic and environmental risk factors.

All participants completed questionnaires giving details of their sexual behaviour and performance and also answered questions designed to test their emotional intelligence.

A significant association was found between EI and frequency of orgasm both during masturbation and sexual intercourse.

Women in the bottom 25 per cent of the emotional intelligence range had twice the normal risk of infrequent orgasm.

The results of the study appear today in The Journal of Sexual Medicine.

Lead author, psychologist Andrea Burri, also from King's College, said: "Emotional intelligence seems to have a direct impact on women's sexual functioning by influencing her ability to communicate her sexual expectations and desires to her partner."

She added that there was a possible connection with a woman's ability to fantasise during sexual intercourse.

Cat gets head stuck in wheel

A cat who poked its head into the wheel of a car needed to be cut out by firefighters after becoming stuck.

Cat named Casper was trapped for an hour with only his head peeping through the tiny hole in the middle of the alloy if a wheel before he was spotted by passers-by.

They contacted the RSPCA who took the tyre and cat to a nearby fire station. Firfighters spent an hour using specialist small cutting gear to free him.

"We've seen lots of unusual cases but this was certainly a new one for us," said Watchmanager James Fawcett, from Bury St Edmunds fire station, Suffolk.

"The poor cat wasn't very happy and kept trying to bite and scratch which made it very difficult for us. We had to use cutting equipment to chip away at the wheel and it took the best part of an hour.

"We made a special plastic guard to fit between his head and the cutters to protect him. The cat was fine afterwards although his skin was a bit raw around his neck."

The Siamese, who was a stray, was taken to a local vets to be checked over and is now being cared for by a member of the RSPCA.

"The cat was very lucky to be rescued and it's great that we were contacted about him," said a spokesman for the RSPCA.

"He is absolutely fine now. He's staying with one of our officers until an owner can be found."

Father delivers baby with Youtube's help

Father Marc Stephens successfully delivered his baby son after watching Do It Yourself baby birth video clips on Youtube.

When Mr Stephens, 28, decided to "Google" how to deliver a baby, he had no idea that he would be putting the information into practice just hours later when his wife went into labour three weeks early on March 21.

The naval engineer, who already has three children with his wife Jo, also 28, decided to search the internet as she felt some discomfort. Four hours later, when the couple were told that no midwife was available as Jo went into sudden labour, he used his new-found knowledge.

The Leading Air Engineering Technician, who has also learned how to play the guitar and do a Rubik's cube from Youtube videos, decided to take check out the video sharing site's childbirth tips. Amongst the videos he viewed was one entitled "How to Deliver a Baby in a Taxi Cab".

"I spent about half a hour on Google and watched a couple of videos on Youtube. One was a cheesy American video on 'this is how you give birth," he said.

"In reality it didn't actually go into that much detail when she was talking.

"It only lasted a couple of minutes. I remember think that was useful," he joked.

After he finished looking at the sites at about 10.30pm the couple went to bed, only to wake up at about 2.00am with Jo in labour.

When they phoned the hospital Marc and Jo, who has a history of short labours were told that there were no midwives available as they were so busy at the hospital.

The couple had planned on a home birth, but were told to get to hospital as no midwife could be present.

"They said do you want to bring her in or do you want an ambulance," Marc said.

"At this time Jo rushed out of the bathroom and dropped down on all fours.

"As soon as she dropped down I looked down and its head was sticking out.

"I was still on the phone to the midwife.

"When Jo said 'you might deliver this one' as a joke, I didn't believe it.

"You just don't think it's going to happen.

"To be honest I didn't have time to panic.

"My youngest daughter woke up and was standing right behind me watching the whole thing!"

Remarkably full-time mum Jo, who has had her three other children, Zoe, 6, Sophie, 5, and Jasmine, 2, in hospital, said that it was her most relaxed labour.

"I was quite relaxed.

"I wasn't panicking at all. I have to say, out of all my four labours, that was the one I enjoyed the most.

"It was the most relaxed one," she said, before praising her husband's calmness.

"There was no sense of panic in his voice at all.

"It was like it was another day at work for him.

"Mark is one of those people he can put his hand to anything.

"He has learnt quite a few things off YouTube - how to do a Rubik's cube and play the guitar."

After successfully delivering 5lb 5oz Gabriele the paramedics arrived and congratulated Marc on a good job, before the family travelled from their home in Redruth, Cornwall, to the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske, for check-ups.

"The paramedics said 'well done, well done'.

"It's funny, when I got to the maternity ward at Treliske they said 'you can scrub up, we're really busy tonight.' I said 'I think one is enough thanks."

The Royal College of Midwives (RCM) and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) both support home birth for women with uncomplicated pregnancies.

They say there is no reason why home birth should not be offered to women at low risk of complications and it may confer considerable benefits for them and their families.

There is also evidence showing that going into labour at home increases a woman's likelihood of a safe birth, with the positive implications that has for her health and that of her baby.

It felt slightly surreal to be sprawled naked with him in the back of a car but we spent a lot of the time laughing. When we weren't saying our lines, we spent most of our naked down-time together talking about shepherd's pie. Ray's a connoisseur. David Beckham said I was a good footballer. I sat right behind him at the first screening of Bend It Like Beckham, but I couldn't see his face. I did notice he had nice manicured nails and he was concentrating on the screen intensely. He was with Victoria, who tapped her feet any time music came on. And then she turned to him and said: 'This is really good, isn't it?' After the film he came up and shook my hand and said I'd done really well. Ray Winstone is a real man. He has a very good body, that's all I can say. I love Hilary Swank's body too. To me she looked perfect in Million Dollar Baby. I think strong bodies are sexy bodies. I like my back and my arms because they are toned and strong-looking from a lot of running and Pilates. I hate the super-skinny look and I've never gone down that route.

A woman who was given an Anti Social Behaviour Order (Asbo) banning her from making too much noise during sex has been arrested by police for breaching the order - just two days after it was imposed. Caroline Cartwright was served the anti-social behaviour order on Friday after magistrates found her guilty of breaking an initial noise abatement order. But by Sunday the 47-year-old had already breached the terms of her Asbo and was arrested by police officers.

Today she remained defiant and, despite a second arrest yesterday and the threat of prison, she vowed to carry on with her love life.

'I'm not going to stop,' she said. 'I've been making the same noises since the Asbo was imposed, and this morning, we were making noises for three hours.

'I can't stop making noise during sex, it's unnatural to not make any noises, and I don't think that I'm particularly loud.'

Mrs Cartwright said she would be appealing against the four-year Asbo and her conviction for breaching the noise abatement order.

The Asbo - imposed after police received 25 complaints from neighbours - bans her from 'making excessive noise' during love-making with husband Steve.

Magistrates heard that the couple's neighbour Margery Ball had not had a decent night's sleep in two years because of the noise made by the pair - even though she is partially deaf.

After receiving complaints environmental health officers placed recording equipment in the flat next door to her house in Concord, Tyne and Wear.

Another neighbour, Rachel O'Connor, pressed a button on the machine every time she was disturbed by noise from next door.

She told Sunderland Magistrates Court: 'I heard sounds of a sexual nature. They were really loud, and there was a lot of moaning and groaning and screaming as if in pain.

'It wasn't just the woman, it came from both parties.'

Miss O'Connor told the court that when she first moved into the flat, in November 2007, the noise started at midnight and lasted until 3am.

Now, she said, the noise started at about 6.30am and lasted until 9am.

Environmental Health officer Pamela Spark told the court she had listened to 23 recordings of the couple having sex.

She said: 'There was an excessive screaming female voice on the recordings.'

As well as being given an Asbo, Mrs Cartwright was fined £200 with £300 costs. She will next appear before Houghton Magistrates on Monday accused of breaching the Asbo.

Cash In Bra Saves Woman's Life

A woman's life has been saved by money stuffed down her bra after she was shot on board a bus amid an attempted robbery. Ivonete Pereira, 58, was shot in the chest by one of two attackers who tried to rob the bus in Salvador, capital of the northeastern state of Bahia in Brazil. But she was saved by coiled notes worth 150 reals (around £45) tucked away inside the left side of her bra. Ms Pereira had stowed the cash away as she knew the buses were a repeat target for robbers. She had been travelling to her summer home in the nearby town of Lauro de Freitas when the attack happened. When the bus passed through the Boca do Rio neighborhood, the robbers suddenly struck. A shootout ensued with a police officer on the scene, during which a stray bullet hit Ms Pereira. Her bra was stuffed with just enough cash to absorb most of the impact, although she still had to be taken to hospital to have the bullet removed. A retired sergeant was killed during the shooting with the assailants, who managed to escape.
