Stephen Cohen of Brooking University should try to know the ground realities with regard to military action against the tribesmen by pounding the tribal region. This can be true that some Taliban may cross the lengthy porous Pak Afghan border “Durand Line” from the tribal areas for attacks and assaults on the US led armies. But why Taliban and Al-Qaeda militants have launched a guerrilla war against NATO and US Forces in Afghanistan. Simple to say that American regime and its agencies have failed yet to prove that Al-Qaeda or Taliban directly or indirectly were involved in the disastrous attacks on the Twin Towers in America. It is sure that Afghan Taliban at least had no such technology with which they could have carried out such strike on US installations thousands of kilometers away. Second if suppose Al-Qaeda had a hand in those attacks, America had even then no right nor was it justified under UN resolutions and International law to strike Afghanistan and then occupy it. As we all as students of international relations and Political Science know that there was no such treaty of extradition between Afghanistan and America under which Taliban could have handed over Bin Laden to America. Second America had not proved Bin Laden to be guilty. Yes, Bin Laden has done no good to Afghans by saying that Al-Qaeda favours the attacks on World trade Center. Innocent people had been killed in that which was not good. But what about the massacre and genocide...

ANP leader Asfandyar Wali Khan survived a deadliest suicide attack in Wali Bagh Charsada at his guesthouse. In the suicide attack five persons including a gunman of ANP leader were killed beside the suicider. The verbal fight between Taliban and ANP leadership persistently continued for the last couple of weeks on the issue of military operation in FATA and swat as well. Taliban leadership in the past had welcomed the ANP led government in the Pukhtoonkhwa, NWFP for its policy statement to hold negotiations and make agreements with Taliban leadership to bring an end to the ongoing strife in Swat and FATA.The truce had proved very fruitful for some time but unfortunately some hidden hands sabotaged the peace agreements after which both sides blamed each other for violating the agreements. The federal government has repeatedly told the nation that the ongoing military operation in Swat and FATA had been launched on the request of the ANP led government to bring an end to the activities of the militants. A few days back too the top leadership of Taliban had held a meeting chaired by the ailing leader at that time Baitullah Mehsud had warned the ANP leadership to review their policy regarding Taliban and bring an end to the military operation both in FATA and Swat or get ready to face the music. So it was observed today on Thursday that Taliban played the music of a suicide blast inside the Hujra of ANP leader Asfandyar Wali Khan in which...

    Encouraging statement of Army Chief

Amid the growing and increasing attacks by US marines and drones on the innocent tribesmen in Waziristan, a tribal region bordering Afghanistan, has triggered anger in the traditionally revengeful tribesmen for the killings of the tribal women and children in a village at Waziristan by the US commandos. The US Forces on the one hand has violated the ground and air spaces of Pakistan time and again under the garb of hot pursuit to kill the militants hiding in the tribal areas of Pakistan. This is on the other hand surely a brazen hit on the sovereignty of an independent Pakistan, which has also been an ally of the US in the so-called war on terror in Afghanistan. Though Pakistan has repeatedly asked and offered the Afghan government to fence the western border and come forward to lay explosive dynamites on the border to permanently stop the incursion of militants from both sides. But the Afghan government has never responded positively to the friendly proposals presented by Pakistan to protect and safeguard the Western border of “Durand Line” between Pakistan and Afghanistan. This is a clear indication that the Allied Forces and the Afghan government either fail to protect the long and porous Western border or they are resolute themselves to keep it open for the militants to cross it to either side. Pakistan has deployed more than eighty thousand troops on the western border with Afghanistan to check the activities and border crossings of...

    HUJRA,

    Written By Bilal Khan Afridi

The people of the Tribal areas of Pakistan, being
Pushtuns by cast, share a similar and the most unique
pattern of culture in the world. A non-Muslim
minority, mostly Sikhs, also live in the Tribal areas
and it is interesting to note that they also share this very
similar pattern of norms and customs beside all the
    Tribals.

The word "Hujra" may be considered as a synonym of
"Guest House". It is a sort of a house which is built
at front or in the middle of every village and it is a
common place for all the villagers to tackle measures
regarding the different parameters of their culture
and life style. It is a site for guests, serves as a
court and also serves as a relay station for the
solution of different issues of the villagers.

Hospitality is the identity of the Tribal people.
Guests of any individual are being kept in the Hujra
and they are served equally by all the villagers.
Every home of the respective village equally
participates in breakfasts, lunches or dinners etc and
at least one member of each home represents his home
by his presence in this daily routine whether or not
the guests are present. All other arrangements for
guests like picnic etc are also being delt in the same
fashion. But one point regarding guests is of high
consideration that is that the female guests are being
kept in the homes of their respective...

    Might is right

    By Sudhir Ahmad Afridi

I was really wonder struck when I read the concerns of the Western and American media on the Internet and heard through their electronic media regarding the suppression of the voices and agitation of the Tibetans by the Chinese government. The world has no right to interfere in the internal affairs of any sovereign state. But it is the moral duty of every State and government to raise objections on the violations of the basic human rights through out the world. I don’t mean that China is justified in its stand on the issue of the Tibet. Surely China can force down and silence the cries and the demands of the people of Tibet in relation to the independence of Tibet, but not forever. At last Chinese government would be willing to give at least maximum autonomy to the Tibetans and would restore all the democratic and human rights of the people of the Republic in China. The present century is that of Democracy and Media and it is not possible for any regime to refuse basic rights to its citizens for long. The World has certainly become a Global Village and the dwellers of the globe are all interconnected through one medium or the other and directly or indirectly get affected from the situation prevailing any where in the World. If Chinese Rulers want to make their state the Super Power of the World and lead the countries of the world, it...
